Next Steps in Psychology Teaching that is Culturally Responsive for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people

What does culturally responsive education in psychology need to look like as we move forward — especially in relation to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and knowledges? In this keynote address, Professor Pat Dudgeon AM will explore the future directions for embedding cultural responsiveness into psychology education and training. Drawing on her deep expertise and leadership in Indigenous mental health, Professor Dudgeon will outline the critical shifts needed to create a more inclusive and accountable discipline. Following the keynote, she will join the session chair in a reflective conversation, offering further insights and wisdom on this vital topic.

Professor Pat Dudgeon is a Bardi woman from the Kimberley. Since 2009 she has been a researcher in the School of Indigenous Studies at the University of Western Australia (UWA). Her research is concerned with community engagement, consultation, and responsiveness, and draws upon multi-disciplinary approaches. Her large, national integrated projects map social phenomena and seek to implement transformative methods and practices focused on Indigenous health and wellbeing.
